How the Kiwi Lost its Wings

Long, long ago, actually a bit longer than when Tane pulled up the big fish and the birds ruled the sky, Kiwis sucked on nectar so they were happy up there. One day the winds and rain came. Tane Mahuta had to beg for the rain to stop for his homeland and it did. His homeland was safe but then a terrible thing happened. The deadly, evil bugs came to attack so they turned the forest yellow.
Tane called the birds for a meeting in the trees where no bugs could get them. “I need a brave bird to snap up the bugs and to save the forest,” said Tane. “Morepork, could you do this serious job for me?” “Sorry Tane. I love the sun and I do not want to miss it.” “Cuckoo, could you do this job for me?” Cuckoo shook his head and said, “I am building a nest in the trees and I cannot leave it.” So Tane turned to Pukeko and said, “Could you do this job for me?” Tui shook his head and he said, “There’s enemies out and I’m afraid of them.” Then he turned to Pukeko. “I like my feet dry so no.” Finally he turned to Kiwi ad Kiwi said, “Yes.”
“All you other birds are very foolish. You shall each have a punishment. Tui you shall wear the coward feather. Cuckoo, you shall lay your eggs in other birds’ nests. Pukeko, you shall have no company and you shall live in the swamps. Morepork, you shall hunt in the dark.” Then he heard a little crying up above. It was the Bellbird. “Don’t worry, you shall sing when the sun touches the bush.” “Kiwi, your gift is a long beak, thick legs and a good smell.” “Now go to your place, birds,” said Tane, “and goodnight.” So from that day on it has not changed an inch and that’s how Kiwi lost his wings.

Weekend sleepover

In the weekend Harry came to my house.We played catching characters . It was really fun jumping every where. After that we went on the trampoline. Next we went to play with the toys. I found old figures. Harry found a wind-up motor bike. Mum said it was time for tea. We had burgers. Next we brushed our teeth and went to bed.
